Bilateral Beats
Most brain waves are characterized by frequencies that are below the audible range. Therefore, if you want to try stimulating your brain using sound, you first need to convert those sub-frequencies into something you can hear. That can be achieved by using a carrier that is located in the audible range, and modulating this carrier with the frequency that corresponds to the brain wave one wants to heighten. Different modulation techniques can be used. Isochronic Tones modulate the amplitude of the carrier, while bilateral beats — the method used by this generator — modulates the stereo image of the sound. Therefore, using headphones is highly recommended to achieve the strongest modulation effect, with this one.
Brain Waves (brainwaves) Entrainment
Brainwaves are electrical activity patterns caused by the neurons of the brain communicating with each other. Brainwaves can be detected using sensitive medical equipment such as an EEG. They provide an indication of the mental state of an individual.
Brainwaves are divided into four main categories:
the Delta waves, when deep sleep occurs;
the Theta waves, associated with a state of somnolence and reduced consciousness;
the Alpha waves, when we are in a state of physical and mental relaxation;
and the Beta waves, emitted when we are consciously alert, or when we feel agitated or tense.
Brainwave frequencies are in the range of 0.1 to 4 (Delta), 4 to 7 (Theta), 7 to 13 (Alpha) and 13 to 30 (Beta) cycles per second (Hz).
Brainwave entrainement (or synchronization), aims to cause our brainwave frequencies to fall into step with a periodic stimulus having a frequency corresponding to the intended brain-state. This can be used, for example, to induce sleep. This page uses bilateral beats as auditory stimuli.

It feels like I'm rocking out. Thank you, Stéphane! ;)
●
I just came into this web but this sounds amazing!
●
I've been using this site, these sounds, for multiple years. The comforting overlap, the meditative peace of enjoying sounds all across the mental stratosphere of consciousness, is fantastic. It doesn't even feel like several frequencies across being awake and asleep, it feels like one, and it feels whole. It feels right.
●
I find this one helpful in focusing when working when I need some binaural, etc brain hacking beat but not too loud or distracting. Thank you Dr Pigeon for giving us a variety!
●
It just feels like I’m massaging my ears. so good!
●
"I feel the space that fills my head in the Space and I feel the part of the Space that fills my head in the Space..." Paradoxally, I really can meditate on delta waves with opened eyes. The feelings are both optimistic and rather eerie. As the effect comes very fast, I probably don't achieve the true delta state but slightly boost the particular brainwaves.
●
I suffer from sleeplessness so I tried to listen to the lowest lethargic wave. I don't feel sleepy when listening. The feelings are just only bizarre calmness and lack of emotions and thoughts. If I go to bed then, I fall asleep very fast! They write that some rare people can stay alert in the deepest delta state of mind. Am I such a person too?
●
Of all the brainwave entrainment generators, this might be my favorite one. When I put on multiple stems, after a while they all seem to blend together into euphoric bliss.
●
By far the best thing I have ever listened to and I am amazed every time with what myNoise has to offer. I have always been easily distracted by little things in my environment and I can focus when I listen to just about anything on myNoise. THANK YOU!!
●
This one is so nice! It's not too high of a sound for my sensitive ears, but it's a combination of highs and lows that helps me focus. Honestly, this is amazing!
●
I can never really focus while doing schoolwork because I get easily sidetracked. I found myNoise and I can focus better. I found Bilateral Harmonics just today and it helped a lot with finishing a personal narrative for my fifth-grade class. Thank you so much for making such a helpful website. I wish I could donate.

This switches between even and odd harmonics every 2 seconds and it sounds amazing. Open the console (F12) and paste this script:
function sleep(e){return new Promise(n=>setTimeout(n,e))}async function run(){for(;;)setPreset(0,.35,0,.35,0,.35,0,.35,0,.35,"Even Harmonics"),await sleep(2e3),setPreset(.35,0,.35,0,.35,0,.35,0,.35,0,"Odd Harmonics"),await sleep(2e3)}run();

For calm focus...
I often struggle with “productivity” and its attendant overwhelm/stress. This mix (and Binaurals in general!) help me set aside my anxiety and tendencies to procrastinate so I can calmly & confidently tend to the tasks at hand without letting fear and anxiety steer the ship. (Isn’t procrastination just unchecked fear after all?) My little brainwaves are so happy and soothed!
●
So I paired the first four slides of this with sub bass through to the low trebel slides of Osmosis and it is extremly relaxing.
●
Good for focus.
●
I spend a good portion of the day with headphones on working in an open plan office, Mynoise is my go-to when normal music becomes too distracting.
My 2 favorite gens are Grey noise, for blocking out external noise when discussions are going on, and Bilateral harmonics when I need to focus on something particularly tricky.
Thank you so much.

Mix the opposite of Odd Harmonies with Trace from Tinnitus Neuromodulator and unfocus your eyes and you will fall into a trance like no other.
●
This has become the static background noise for my writing blocks during the day or night. I play it with music, or gentle spoken audio, just barely within range of knowing it's there. Calming, focusing, and subtle.
●
I needed some kind of noise to keep my awake while I work and this is pretty useful. It's like someone is poking me in my left and right ear, saying "Wake up".
●
Great for relaxing. Can take a while but feels great.
●
Trying to stimulate attentiveness, while also managing anxiety. I've found the higher pitch noises linked to alertness also kick off my anxiety, but this noise balance seems to be doing the trick.
●
I played a bit with the settings, and this one is my absolute favorite. It feels so peaceful.
●
Something about these sounds just gives me goosebumps. I love listening to these while I'm working. It honestly feels like a shield against anxiety and worry.
●
This helps me focus!
●
This one made me lift my head up :) Thx for playing around with those sliders, person a couple hearts below me!
●
The preset "All Harmonics" does a really cool job when animating the sliders. It's melody after melody. Just beautiful.
●
I usually have a hard time focusing on my essays while listening to music, but this really helped me out! It let me feel calm and focused, without raising my anxiety up.
●
Geez I don't know, it just feels like a really nice mix. It almost forces you to forget everything thats going on. Would be absolutely great for meditation.
●
Opposite of Odd Harmonics, it's amazing!
●
Whenever I get a migraine I can't shake, I put this on... Sometimes it takes a little while before the tracks "line up", but when it starts hitting the heavy harmonies, it's like a massage for my brain... The sound shakes it in JUST the right way. Thanks!
●
Using the preset 'Calm'; it's like it's massaging my brain. Very calming indeed :)
●
I was listening to them, and it was AMAZING! When I played fear, I could hardly breathe. When I played fantasy, I could picture so much wonder in my mind! When I played focussed, I had all my work done almost immediately! Thank you.
●
Okay I was one of those people who didn't think that listening to noise/music would help me with my studies. Although noises do not relax me, this noise in particular actually does help me focus and keeps me going. I'm legitimately scared that I'll become dependent on it in order to study, but hey it's the new age and I should take advantage of technology if it helps me. I'm not cheating or anything.
●
Playing around with the presets, I really enjoy the Delta wave settings, with a hint of Theta for harmony. Adding the low Alpha adds a new sense of harmony, remaining relaxing, yet somehow oddly urgent and energizing. By focusing on different elements of the repetition, it seems almost as if new melodies form spontaneously.
●
I really like this generator and it's really effective but works best if you have it on at least 15 minutes while doing very little activity.
●
Powerful, alerting yet can put you into a trance.
●
The even harmonics are a great resolve to the odds! Love it :)
●
I'm losing something I never needed in the first place...
●
I love Bilateral Harmonics simply because of the bizarre way it instantly puts me to sleep. It's also amazing that when I listen to the harmonics just long enough, the simple beats and harmony form into a rhythmic song or tune. It's really extraordinary!
●
I think it's neat how the different types of brainwaves line up perfectly with the natural tonal harmonic series.
●
I love generators like these and this has to be the one with the strongest effect yet (though I'm weird, I sort of enjoy the Shepard Madness). Even without headphones, I feel a bit altered from these tones.
●
Typically these types of generators don't do much for me, but this one seems to be doing something. Pretty neat!
